제목 Preparation and Characterization of SiC Coated Carbon Fiber
초록 Carbon fiber-reinforced composites(CFRC) have received much attention in recent years. Their good mechanical, thermal, chemical properties make these materials widely applicable in many fields. But carbon fiber exhibits a very poor oxidation resistance even at temperatures as low as 400℃, so the application of the CFRC as high-temperature material has been mostly limited to inert atmospheres. In this work, SiC on the carbon fiber was coated, through the infiltration of a SiO2 sol or via preceramic polymer using a polyphelylcarbosilane onto carbon fiber by dip coating method and they were carried out in a furnace under an argon flow at 1000~1500℃, held at high temperatures for 1h. The crystalline structure and morphology of the as-prepared SiC coating was measured by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS). TGA was carried out to investigate the oxidation behavior under static air, at a rate of 10℃/min.
