In recent years, there has been growing interest in one-dimensional oxide nanomaterials, because of their fundamental scientific interest and potential applications in a variety of functional devices. More recently, both oxide nanowires syntehsized by vapor-phase growth and oxide nanofibers synthesized by electrospinning have been extensively studied for the use of gas or bio sensors. In this presentation, the following points will be discussed: the basic principle of gas snesors, the strong and weak points of oxide nanowires in gas sensors, synthesis of oxide nanowires by vapor-phase growth and electrospinning, the importance of networked structures, some derivative structures of oxide nanowires, typical gas sensing properties, and sensing mechanisms in oxide nanowstructures. |
