Electrochemical degradation of pharmaceuticals and bisphenol A in surface water |

Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) as well as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are considered as highly toxic chemicals due to their harmful and adverse ecological effects. In this study, we evaluated theelectrochemical removal efficiency of PPCP and EDCs in surface water. The Ti anode and stainless steel (SUS316L) cathodes were immersed in a 500 mL of surface water, while an electrochemical treatment system was operated for 2 hours under different electric voltages (1.0 to 6.0 V). The concentration of trace organics (PPCP and EDCs) were analyzed using liquid chromatograph with a quadrupole mass detector. |
