Oxynitride phosphors are attracting much attention in recent years as they have promising luminescence properties and would fine potential applications in white LEDs and next generation displays. New interesting α-SiAlON:Eu2+-based yellow oxynitride phosphors with the composition of (CaxEuy)Si12-2x-3yAl2x+3yOyN16-y (x=0.2~2.2, y=0~0.25) have been prepared by gas pressure sintering and the effects of the activator concentration and the overall composition of the host lattice on optical properties hase been investigated. α-SiAlON:Eu2+-based phosphors absorb light strongly in the UV-visible spectral region, and show intense broadband emission at 580~605nm. This phosphor powders may become a good candidates for creating warm white light, it is closely allied to the sunlight, when combined to a blue light-emitting diode (λex=460nm). |
