Hybrid biocomposites are one of the emerging fields in polymer science. This study investigated ceramic sheet effects on natural fiber reinforced polypropylene hybrid biocomposites. Hybrid biocomposites were manufactured with 20wt% loading of kenaf and addition of ceramic sheet (single or double sides) by melting and compression molding. The ceramic sheet effects on the thermal and dynamic mechanical properties of the hybrid biocomposites were analyzed by TGA, TMA and DMA. Thermal stability and dynamic mechanical properties of hybrid biocomposites were improved 20% and 27% with ceramic sheets for both ends, respectively, compared to biocomposite without ceramic sheet. As a result, fully impregnation of ceramic sheets into the natural fiber reinforced biocomposite can be contributed to improve the both mechanical properties and inflammability of biocomposites resulting in broadening the applications of biocomposites such as aerospace. |
