Amperometric urea biosensor based on carbon nanotubes and metal catalysts |

An amperometric urea biosensor was developed by the immobilization of urease, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and metal catalysts (platinum and rhodium) on indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode. CNT film was prepared by a filtration of CNT suspension. Urease enzyme solution and suspension of rhodium nanoparticles were poured onto the CNT film to introduce enzymes and catalysts into its void space. The electrode surface was coated via a polyion complex (PIC) membrane. The simply integrated CNT/Urease/Rd/PIC electrode was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry for the application to urea biosensor. |
