Nanofiller-reinforced nanocomposites strategy provides many opportunity and lead advancement in the material science and technology, improving mechanical, thermal, gas barrier and electrical properties of neat materials. Especially, graphene oxide (GO) has been expected as the next generation nanofiller owing to superior material properties, dispersibility and processability. Despite of intrinsically outstanding properties of GO, there are arguments about its geometry in nanocomposites, which is important parameter determining the property improvement. Here, we prepared horizontally oriented GO within crosslinked polyethylene glycol diacrylate (XPEG) matrix and investigated enhanced properties of GO/XPEG nanocomposites in aspect of the nanofiller geometry. The properties of GO/XPEG nanocomposites also evaluated with theoretical models including the Halpin-Tsai model and the modified Nielson’s model. Moreover, we suggest the possibility of GO as the nanofiller for the polymer industry. |
