An aromatic polycarbonate based on bisphenol-A is an interesting and commercially sucessful class of polymer. Known for useful properties such as high heat capability, optical clarity, and incredible toughness, polycarbonte has been widely employed as the most largely amounts consumed engineering plastic in various applications basic to the modern life style. Over the past ten years, another renaissance in polycarbonate chemistry has been occurring, with several activities. We reviewed and discussed polycarbonate copolymers based on a variety of bisphenol-A which can enhance ductility even further, lead to higher Tg polymers, anti scratch resistance, or solvent resistance. |
