Ionomers, which are polymeric maerials containg a small amount of ionic functionality, have been gaining much attention because the interoduction of a small amount of ionic moiety into a polymer can significantly enhance the physical and mechanical properties of matrix polymer. In this study, we synthesized poly(ether-b-amide) multiblock copolymer consisting of m-xylene decanamide (MXD10) as a hard segment and 72 wt% PTMG as a soft segment by melt polycondensation using amide coupling reaction. To obtain sulfonated MXD10-b-PTMG, ionic group (-SO3-H+) was introduced onto the MXD10 hard block of the copolymer by sulfonation of aromatic ring. The effect of ion content on microstructure, thermal, mechanical and rheological properties of ionmers were investigated by TEM, AFM, DSC, DMA, tensile test and ARES, respectively. |
