제목 | Photocatalytic Water Oxidation on TiO2 and Fe2TiO5 |
초록 | In photoelectrochemical(PEC) water splitting, hydrogen is produced from water using sunlight and specialized semiconductors called photoelectrochemical materials, which use light energy to directly dissociate water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. Continued improvements in efficiency, durability, and cost are still needed for market viability. Efficiencies are being improved through enhanced sunlight absorption and better surface catalysis. Durability is being improved with more rugged materials and protective surface coatings. And hydrogen production costs are being lowered through reduced materials such as noble metals and materials processing costs. Fe2TiO5 has both advantages of Fe2O3 and TiO2. For the low bandgap of Fe2O3(2.2eV), it has substantial optical absorption. And for the wide bandgap of TiO2(3.2eV), it also has low external bias. Fe2TiO5 itself has also good bandgap of 2.1eV and the conduction and valence band position are more negative than that of Fe2O3. |
