Wrinkling is of promising method to create a micro- or nano-structured surface. In the method, a rigid skin layer is fabricated on an elastomer substrate, resulting in wrinkling owing to the difference of young moduli. On the other hand, a wood cell wall is composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, in which the lignin has important roll to reinforce the cell wall. Lignification, involving immobilization and polymerization of a lignin precursor onto the hemicellulose, is catalyzed by oxidases. Here we focused on the lignification to create a wrinkled-film because the harder skin layer would be fabricated on the chitosan film by horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-catalyzed reaction likewise the lignification, resulting in wrinkling. On the basis, we investigated preparation of a wrinkled-chitosan film by using HRP. The chitosan film was soaked in a phenolic acid solution, and then the film was treated with HRP and H2O2 in water. After drying, the wrinkled-chitosan film was obtained. |
