Polyurethane acrylate dispersion (PUAD) was used in the coatings and adhesives industry. In this study, we confirmed the effects of the number of acrylate functional groups on the properties of PUAD. 2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate, and 3-(acryloyloxy)-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate, and pentaerythritol triacrylate with different numbers of acrylate groups were used as acrylate monomers. We prepared polyurethane acrylate (PUA) through bulk polymerization of the hydroxy group of polyfunctional acrylate monomer with the isocyanate group of NCO-terminated polyurethane. And then, we obtained PUAD by water dispersion of PUA. The chemical structures of PUAD were characterized through FT-IR analysis. We measured the gel fraction, tensile strength, and dynamic mechanical properties of a film prepared by PUAD. The tensile strength of the PUAD film increased with the content of the acrylate group. |
