제목 Enhancing the rheological and electrical properties of polystyrene nanocomposites via latex blending with carbon nanoplatelets
초록 Carbon nanoplatelets are frequently used as conductive nanofillers for improving the electrical conductivity of polymer. In this study, graphene oxide (GO) and graphite nanoplatelet (GNP) were introduced to increase the rheological and electrical properties of polystyrene (PS) nanocomposites. PS nanocomposites were prepared through latex technology which utilizes freeze-drying the aqueous mixture of PS particle and nanofiller. GO was synthesized by using the modified Hummers' method. PS nanocomposite samples were prepared by molding the freeze-dried powder at 180 ˚C for 5 min. In spite of relatively low temperature heat treatment during molding, the electrical conductivity of GO was substantially recovered. Thus, conducting pathway of PS/GO nanocomposites was achieved at low electrical percolation threshold. However, PS/GNP nanocomposites did not show such improvement because GNP is large in size and exists in an aggregate of graphene layers.
