제목 Effects of fiber length attrition on properties of highly filled polyamide 66 composites with glass fiber
초록  Polymer composites have been widely applied in automotive parts, aircraft parts, etc., due to their good performance, mechanical properties, light weight and low cost. In most cases, high loadings of glass fiber are required to achieve the desired performance as replacement of metal applications.
 In this work, the composites of glass fiber and PA 66 were prepared by melt compounding. Two types of glass fiber, with and without sizing material, were used to explore the effect of sizing material on properties of the composites. Various experimental conditions were investigated including rpm, processing temperature, formulation and residence time to determine the condition for minimum fiber attrition. Mechanical properties and morphology of the composites were analyzed by universal testing machine (UTM) and optical microscope (OM), respectively. Quantitative particle analysis of the glass fiber length was performed by image analysis of micrographic images.
