제목 Influence of Oxy-fluorination on Fracture Toughness Properties of Carbon Fibers-reinforced Epoxy Matrix Composites
초록 In this work, the oxyfluorination was used to study the effect of oxygen content on surface and fracture toughness characteristics of oxyfluorinated carbon fibers in an epoxy matrix system. The changes of surface functional groups, chemical compositions, and structures of the carbon fibers were characterized by FT-IR, XPS, and XRD measurements. Also, the mechanical interfacial properties of the composites were studied in KIC and GIIC measurements. The results indicated that graphitic carbon was the major carbon functional component on the carbon fiber surfaces and the other functional groups were also present, such as C-O, C=O, HO-C=O, C-Fx after oxyfluorination of carbon fibers. No largely changes of structure in the oxy-fluorinated were found in the content of oxygen. Consequently, these introductions of oxygen functional groups on the carbon fiber surfaces led to an improvement of the fracture toughness properties of the composites.
