Removal behaviors of noxious gases by rayon derived activated carbon fibers |

In this study, rayon-derived activated carbon fibers (ACF) were prepared by using a steam activation technique for the removal of noxious gases. Rayon fibers were stabilized at 320℃ for 1 h and carbonized at 700℃ for 1 h. The carbonized fibers were activated at 900℃ for from 10 min to 70 min under steam. The morphology and crystallite structure of the ACF was observed by an SEM and XRD, respectively. The textural properties were studied by BET, BJH, and NLDFT equations from N2/77K adsorption isotherms. The noxious gas removal performance of the ACF was measured by a GC-MS. From the results, the noxious gas removal performance was markedly improved with increasing the activation time. |
