Nitroxide-mediated Polymerizaton of 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate Using Hyperbranched Polyglycidols-terminated TEMPO As a Macroinitiator |

Hyperbranched polyglycidols (HBP)-terminated TEMPO as a macroinitiator for nitroxide-mediated polymerization (NMP) of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) was achieved by click chemistry with azide-terminated HBP and 4-alkynyl TEMPO was modified from 4-hydroxy TEMPO. To synthesis of azide-terminated HBP, initially HBP was obtained by anionic ring-opening multibranching polymerization of glycidol. The hydroxyl group of polyglycidols was modified to chloro group and finally to azide funtion. Depending on molecular weight of HBP and degree of modification of hydroxyl group, the property of obtained polymers found to be controlled. Using HBP-terminated TEMPO can serve as an initiator for the polymerization of HEMA by NMP. The structure and molecular weight of the polymers were measured by nuclear magnetic resonance and infrared spectra. |
