The carbon dioxide reforming of methane (CDR) using coke oven gas (COG) has been carried out at 800 oC and a high gas hourly space velocity (GHSV = 2,500,000 h-1) over Ni-MgO-Al2O3 catalyst. To investigate the effect of calcination condition on physicochemical properties and catalytic performance of Ni-MgO-Al2O3 catalyst, the calcination temperature is systemically changed. The result of the characterization, the physicochemical properties of the catalyst such as basicity, BET surface area, Ni dispersion, Ni crystallite size and reducibility varied with the calcination temperature. Among the prepared catalysts, the Ni-MgO-Al2O3 (calcination temperature = 800 oC) catalysts exhibited the highest CH4 conversion. This result is in mainly due to the high basicity, high Ni dispersion, and high BET surface area. |
