Electro-Active Paper (EAPap) based on cellulose is attractive as smart material due to its merits in terms of biodegradability, lightweight, low power consumption, large displacement output, and low actuation voltage. EAPap is made with cellulose by dissolving it with a solvent; spin coating, washing with water and drying. This paper will present a EAPap fabrication process for purifying regenerated cellulose in EAPap. Lithium Chloride in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) is used as a solvent to dissolve cotton cellulose fiber and the prepared cellulose solution is spin coated, the coated cellulose films are immersed in Deionised (DI) water and Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) mixture to remove the solvent in the regenerated cellulose films. Effect of the mixture ratios on the solvent removal rate is studied, and FTIR, ICP-MS, SEM are investigated to prove the effect. Finally, an EAPap actuator is made with the solution and its actuation performance is tested. |
