In this study, effects of nano-CaCO3 content on the mechanical interfacial properties of trifunctional epoxy resin triglycidyl paraaminophenol (TGPAP)/CaCO3 nanocomposites were investigated through fracture toughness, impact strength, and flexural strength measurements. The morphology of the TGPAP/CaCO3 nanocomposites after impact tests were examined by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). As a result, the mechanical interfacial properties of the TGPAP/CaCO3 nanocomposites were significantly increased with the addition of nano-CaCO3. When the nano-CaCO3 content was increased, the flexural strength of the TGPAP/CaCO3 nanocomposites was increased with increasing nano-CaCO3 content up to 4 wt% nano-CaCO3, whereas the elastic modulus did not obviously change. The SEM results showed that shear deformation occurred to prevent the propagation of cracks in the TGPAP/CaCO3 nanocomposites. |
