Cellulose, which is present in abundance on earth, is used in various fields. However, due to the structure of the cellulose, it is difficult to dissolve the cellulose. In 2004, Zhang’s group discovered that cellulose could dissolve in the aqueous solution of NaOH and urea. Since then, research on the solvation of cellulose in the aqueous solution of NaOH and urea has been carried out in various ways. As already known that urea molecules located around hydrophobic and NaOH are easy to site near the hydrophilic of cellulose. In the present study, we attempted to understand the mechanism of solvation from a thermodynamic point of view through 3D-RISM (3D Reference Interaction Site Model) and based on this, the role of urea was studied. |
