A series of Ruthenium Complexes as Interlayer in Inverted Bulk Hetero Junction Solar Cells |

A set of ruthenium complexes with different ligand are fabricated as interlayer for inverted bulk heterojunction solar cells. We found that changing the ligand from 2,2’-bipirydine-4-carboxylic acid (RubiPy)with thiocyanate (N719) results in slightly difference in power conversion efficiency . The set of ruthenium complexes are presented to reduce surface defect in ZnO layer, also decrease the electron injection barrier between ZnO and PC71BM:PTB7 layer. Interfacial contact between cathode and active layers would increase charge generation, transportation and collection. Based on our study the set of ruthenium complexes could boost the device performance with the Ru-bipy (8.05%) has lightly lower PCE than N719 (8.08%). |
