CPEs have been attracting growing attention due to their unique properties such as useful optical and electrical properties based on the conjugated backbone and ionic side chains with solution processability in highly polar solvents. Moreover, by depositing the CPE layer on top of metal electrode, work function at the surface of metal can be tuned substantially. This leads to improve the interfacial contact for efficient charge carrier injection and transport in organic electronic devices. Herein, we designed and synthesized a series of CPEs based on the main backbone of fluorene and phenylene with ionic functionalities on side chains. By introducing new series of CPEs with different number of ionic groups per repeat unit, the energy level at the interface of metal electrode and organic active layer can be fine-tuned. We will discuss the interfacial modification with these series CPEs and the resulting device characteristics in organic optoelectronic devices. |
