In this study, macroporous polymer beads were synthesized via suspension polymerization of divinylbenzene and vinyl acetate. The FT-IR spectroscopy indicated that the large number of hydroxyl groups appeared on the surface of beads under experimental conditions, and subsequently, the hydoxylated polymer beads were post cross-linked in the presence of ferric chloride. General physical properties of the polymer beads such as BET surface area, apparent density, and pore sizes, were measured. The morphological features of the beads were evaluated by microscopic analysis. Adsorption and the microwave-assisted desorption behaviors of the polymer beads toward benzene were studied. |
