During the last decade there has been a growing interest in the coordination chemistry of lanthanides due to their potential application as luminescent probes in medicine and biology, as contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging, and as mild reagents and catalysts in organic synthesis. In order to separate the lanthanide ions in dilute solution, magnetic adsorbents were prepared with fabricating colloidal crystals and surface functionalization by using monodisperse SiO2 coated magnetic nanoparticle microsphere with a core-shell structure and various functional group on surface. The hydroxide surface properties of magnetic adsorbents were functionalized to amine, carboxylate, hydroxide group by the surface modification process. The functionalized adsorbents were synthesized for use in the separation of various lanthanide ions from aqueous solutions. |
