제목 Highly sensitive hydrogen sensor with well-aligned Pt-PdO NWs at room temperature
초록 The accurate hydrogen gas detection is receiving a great attention and becoming important, since hydrogen gas has been regarded as a new energy generation. In this work, we prepared well-aligned Pt functionalized PdO nanowires (Pt-PdO NWs), which showed high sensitivity forward hydrogne gas at room temperature, using lithographically patterned nanowire electordeposition (LPNE) method and reduction process. At 0.2 % of hydrogen gas, Pt nanoparticles decorated PdO NWs (Pt-PdO NWs) showed 10.16-fold improved sensitivity (62%), which is defined as ΔR/Rair * 100, compared to pristine PdO NWs (6.1%). In addition, the Pt-PdO NWs responded to hydrogen at a very low concentration of 10 ppm with a sensitivity of 17%. These oustanding results, which are mainly attributed to well-distributed and decorated Pt catalytic naoparticles on the surface of PdO NWs. The Pt catalytic nanoparticles have been well known for spill-over effect, and forming the Schottky barrier with PdO, which further enhance the variation of resistance by creating the depletion layer. The well-distrubtion of Pt nanoparticles onto PdO NWs could maximize the effective catalyst reactions, and the diffusion to PdO surface resulting in making the entire surface of the PdO NWs an effective oxygen delivery system for reaction with hydrogen gas. Therefore, this work demonstrate the facile synthesis of Pt nanoparticles functionalized PdO NWs, and its application in sensitive hydrogen sensor at room temperature.
