Core-shell nanoparticles carry a great potential toward hollow nanoparticles that are widely used in applications such as drug and enzyme encapsulated release controlled systems, fillers, pigments, catalysts, and adsorption materials for sound. Also, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) is one of the most typical polymers to fabricate stimuli-responsive hollow micro/nanoparticle. In this study, thermo-responsive PNIPAAm-grafted silica nanoparticles were synthesized by colloidal silica (M-CS) modified from 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate (MPS) and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether-3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl isocyanate (PEGME-IPTES) as templates for a passage connecting the inside and the outside of the hollow nanoparticles. And, thermo-responsive hollow PNIPAAm nanoparticles were fabricated by etching process using HF solution. The products were characterized by GPC, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and FT-IR spectroscopies. The particle size was also confirmed by using DLS, TEM. |
