Enhancement of the adhesion strength of sealing glasses by adding B2O3 |
초록 |
Glass sealing materials for low-temperature sealing are focused because of the higher adhesion strength, reliability and stable hermetic sealing compared to epoxy or metal sealants. Although lead-containing glass systems were widely used for low temperature sealing, because of the environment regulation, lead-free glass systems are studied for replacement of lead-containing glasses. The suggested glasses have low thermal properties but their adhesion strength is much lower than lead glasses after low-temperature sintering. For the higher adhesion strength at low-temperature, ion diffusions between substrate and sealing glass are important. In this study, V2O5-P2O5-ZnO glass systems have been investigated as a sealing material by adding B2O3 to improve the adhesion between the glass frits and a soda-lime substrate. The glass transition temperature and viscosity of as-fabricated glasses were measured using differential scanning calorimetry and hot stage microscopy. The interfacial reaction and adhesion strength between glass substrate and the glass-filler composites after sintering are measured by scanning electron microscope and the universal tester. The results show that the adhesion strength increases as the amount of B2O3 increase with change of thermal properties. It seems that the glass structures are changed with addition of oxides, and the ions from substrate are diffused to the sealing glass. From these results, we could understand the mechanism to strengthen the adhesion of soda-lime glass substrate by ion-diffusion from the substrate to the sealing glass. |
