Epoxide hydrolase (EH) is a biocatalyst that can be used for the enantioselective hydrolysis of racemic epoxides for preparing chiral epoxides. Chiral diols can also be produced by EH-catalyzed enantioconvergent biohydrolysis process. In this presentation, the discovery and protein engineering of marine EH will be presented. Enantioconvergent biohydrolysis will also be discussed for the production of chiral diols.
