Several methods to reduce marine biological fouling have been studied to enhance energetic efficiency and performance of marine machinery. Polyethylene glycol(PEG) is a typical material well known for having good antifouling property. However, pure PEG is so weak to exploit on actual marine environment. In this study, we combine PEG and PDMS to improve their weak mechanical properties. We applied Directional Melting Crystallization (DMC) method to make a porous structure of PEG and subsequently we infiltrated PDMS into the porous PEG. The structure of composites was confirmed by a scanning electron microscope. Furthermore, our PEG-PDMS composites shows improved mechanical strength compared with pure PEG film. |
