Highly porous cellulose acetate (CA) nanofiber filters were obtained by using binary solvent/non-solvent mixtures based on a non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS). Electrospun porous CA nanofibers were produced from binary solvent systems of dichloromethane (DCM) and dimethylacetamide (DMAc), and the morphology and porous structure of CA nanofibers were controlled by DCM/DMAc ratio and the solution concentration. Based on the optimized binary solvent systems, porous CA nanofibers were prepared with different CA contents, and were characterized by X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscope, scanning electron microscope and surface area/pore size analyzer. Filter performance for air purifier applications was observed through the analysis of fine particular matt removal efficiency. |
