제목 | Design and Simulation of Baseload Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) Plant |
초록 | The shortcomings of solar power are intermittent, low power density, and expensive. In this study, a preliminary attempt towards the low cost baseload concentrating solar power (CSP) power plant has been done. A quick qualitative assessment of CSP technology is performed and solar tower with thermal energy storage are selected. To investigate the effect of different operating condition on the levelized cost of electricity, three different molten salts are used as heat transfer fluid. The investigation leads to several findings, i.e. (1) the larger the difference between the hot and cold temperature operating condition, the lesser amount of salts required, (2) pumping the salt to the top of the tower require high amount of energy, hence larger difference between the hot and cold temperature operating condition leads to the lower energy required.
