Efficient Electrooxidation of Biomass-Derived Glycerol over Ordered Mesoporous Carbon-Supported Pt Catalysts |

Recently, oxygenated hydrocarbon such as glycerol has been studied as potential fuel for energy and chemicals generation from electrocatalytic oxidation reaction. A catalyst with high metal dispersion that is supported on carbon would be a better option as a high performance catalyst for electrocatalytic glycerol oxidation. As a potential support material, ordered mesoporous carbons such as CMK-5 and CMK-9 have been synthesized to obtain a high specific surface area on which small and highly dispersed metal nanoparticles can be supported. In this study, we present the use of very small and highly dispersed Pt nanoparticles on OMC supports. The Pt nanoparticles on OMC supports demonstrate high catalytic performance compared to commercial Pt/C (JM) catalyst for glycerol electrooxidation. |
