Application of bioactive phosphate crosslinked with hydrogel using guar gum in bone tissue engineering |

Bioactive hydrogels have been used in bone tissueengineering applications because of their tunable physicochemical andbiological performance. Herein, a calcium-free phosphate approach for improvingthe bone-like apatite formation in phosphate crosslinked guar gum-basedhydrogels was investigated using free radical polymerization of acrylamide (AM)monomer and bis[2-methacryloyloxy] ethyl phosphate (BMEP) as crosslinker. TheGG composition greatly influenced the porosity, pore size, and mechanicalproperties of hydrogels. Importantly, the hydrogels possessed a ladder-like fibrous topology. The phosphatefunctionality within hydrogel offers fast biomineralization in simulated bodyfluid (SBF). The overall excellent physicochemical and biological properties ofP-GG hydrogels indicate its potential in bone tissue engineering. |
