Synthesis of 2D bismuth chalcogenide heterostructured nanoplates and their enhanced thermoelectric properties |
초록 |
Controlled synthesis of 2D heterostructures is highly desirable not only from fundamental scientific perspective but also to take advantage of the emergent properties that cannot be achieved from each individual counterpart. Herein, we demonstrate a scalable synthesis of 2D bismuth chalcogenide heterostructures such as core/shell (Bi2Se3@Bi2Te3) and core/multi-shell nanoplates (Bi2Se3@Bi2Te3@Bi2Se3, Bi2Se3@Bi2Te3@Bi2Se3@Bi2Te3) through a successive epitaxial growth of Bi2Se3 and Bi2Te3. The relative dimensions of the constituting layers are controllable through the molar ratios of the precursors added to the seed nanoplate solution. The nanoplates are pelletized into bulk sample and thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) of ~0.71 at 450 K could be obtained for the bulk pellet of Bi2Se3@Bi2Te3 nanoplates, which is much higher than that of bulk pellet composed of pure Bi2Te3 nanoplates due to a simultaneous improvement in electronic and thermal transport properties. |
