Silica aerogels are lightweight and highly porous three-dimensional network materials with ultralow thermal conductivity, low density and high surface area. Due to these properties, it can be apply a number of applications such as thermal insulator, acoustic absorbent and weight lightening. However, aerogels have serious problems caused by they are fragile so it cannot be used to insulate alone. Therefore, fiber-reinforced aerogel blanket is needed. Fiber-reinforced aerogel blankets have been produced as a flexible and durable thermal insulation. Generally, aerogel blankets were fabricated using alkoxide precursors and woven ceramic fiber. This choice partly restricts the commercialization and dispersion of aerogels in the blanket. To improve the dispersity of aerogel in the blanket, Non-woven fiber was employed. Non-woven fiber and aerogels were dispersed in organic solvents, and these solutions were mixed together. For the well-dispersed solution, mixing conditions were optimized. |
