Preparation of MWCNT-g-Poly(Aniline-co-DABSA)/Nafion Nanocomposite Membranes for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells |

Preparation and characterization of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-g-poly (aniline-co-2,5-diaminobenzenesulfonic acid (DABSA)) reinforced Nafion nanocomposite membranes were presented for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). The nanocomposite membranes were prepared by solution casting and were characterized by thermal property, methanol uptake, ion exchange capacity (IEC), water uptake and oxidative stability for DMFCs. The methanol uptake of the nanocomposite membranes decreased dramatically more than one order of magnitude compared with Nafion 117 membrane. The IEC of the nanocomposite membranes obtained by the thermo-acidic pretreatment of the membranes results in increasing the IEC values by a significant amount compared to Nafion membrane. Moreover, the nanocomposites membranes showed enhanced oxidative stability for DMFC application. |
