The syndiotatic 1,2-polybutadiene(1,2-PBD) containing 0.5wt.% multiwalled carbon nanotube(MWNT) was prepared by solution blend. Morphological observation indicates well dispersion of MWNT in 1,2-PBD. The effect of MWNT on the nonisothermal crystallization of 1,2-PBD was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). Nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of 1,2-PBD/MWNT nanocomposites were analyzed using Avrami and Ozawa model as well. The onset and maximum crystallization temperatures for the 1,2-PBD/MWNT 0.5wt% composite are, about 17 and 12℃ higher than those for the neat 1,2-PBD respectively, indicating high nucleation ability of MWNT in 1,2-PBD. However, the overall crystallization rate, characterized by half crystallization time, of the 1,2-PBD/MWNT composite is lower than that of the neat 1,2-PBD. This is ascribed to 1,2-PBD chains on the surfaces of MWNT which withheld the growth of nuclei. |
