Electrorheological Properties of Carbon Nanotube/Polyelectrolyte Self-Assembled Polystyrene Doublet Particles by Layer-by-Layer Assembly |

In this study, we investigated electrorheological properties (ER) ofpolystyrene (PS) doublet particles coated with functionalized carbon nanotubes (fSCNTs) by Layer-by-layer (LBL) method. Nonspherical PS doublet particles were prepared with semi-IPN (Semi-interpenetrated polymer network) particles by seeded polymerization. After surface modification of PS doublet particles with H2SO4, poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS)were obtained.Then, composite particles were synthesized by LbL self-assembly method with fSCNTs and polyelectrolytes on the surface of PSS doublet particles. The content of fSCNTs on PS particles was controlled by the layer numbers on the particle surface. |
