제목 Enhancing response rate and power density of ionic polymer actuator with introducing all-organic composite membrane
초록 Ionic polymer actuators have been of interest in the muscle-inspired artificial devices due to their large deformation under low operating voltage (1–5 V), which is the advantage over other kinds of actuators. However, the relatively slow response rate and low power density were obstacles for practical applications. Herein, we demonstrate ionic polymer actuator with faster response rate and high power density. The actuator consists of sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfonate) (SPAES) polymer and copper phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid (CuPCSA). SPAES/CuPCSA membranes have superior ionic conductivity and mechanical properties than those of Nafion membrane. The actuator based on SPAES/CuPCSA membrane shows faster response rate compared with large reference of ionic polymer actuators. Furthermore, SPAES/CuPCSA ionic polymer actuators exhibits much larger mechanical power density than conventional Nafion actuator with the evidence of arm wrestling challenge.
