Properties of Modacrylic Fibers Prepared by Acrylonitrile/Vinylchloride Copolymers - Part III: Coagulation and Diffusion of Fiber Formation during Wet-spinning |

The coagulation process of polymer is the important part in to fiber formation by wet-spinning. It occurs in the first step of spinning process through the exchange of water and solvent in the polymer. Therefore, it is the most critical element to find the optimum spinning conditions. In this study, acrylonitrile/vinylchloride(AN/VC) copolymer is prepared by the suspension polymerization with redox catalyst, and the fiber is spun by the wet spinning process with dimethylsulfoxide solvent. The experiments were performed with gelled solutions of AN/VC copolymer in dimethylsulfoxide solvent, to investigate the diffusional behavior with concentration and distance in coagulation bath. We analyzed the each proportion in a three component system of solvent, water, and polymer. As a results, the correlation between coagulation and diffusional behavior of AN/VC copolymer is derived. |
