As the energy crisis in recent century, renewable energy, such as solar and wind energy, can be an alternative choice for powering reverse osmosis (RO) system. To solve the problem of the intermittence of the energy supply with the dynamic water demand, a battery storage system is incorporate into the integrated renewable energy system with RO system (RES-RO) system. PA is powerful methodology that combines operations within a process or several process to minimize the consumption of resources and harmful emissions such as water, mass, and heat. This study contributes to integrate a reverse osmosis desalination system with renewable energy sources and battery storage using numerical PoPA in order to minimize outsourced freshwater. The hybrid renewable energy sources are considered, both solar and wind energy. In order to design of a practical RES-BS-RO system, power losses considered in this study. The economics analysis of BS-RO system is carried out to find the proper RO capacity. cknowledgements : This work was supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) grant (NRF-2012R1A1B3001400). |
