Preparation of chitosan/carboxymethyl cellulose/PEGDA semi interpenetrating polymer network (semi-IPN) hydrogel |

A semi-IPN hydrogel was successfully prepared by using chitosan(CS), carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC) and poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate(PEGDA). CS and CMC can form an intermolecular complex through the strong electrostatic and hydrogen bonding interactions between amino, hydroxyl and carboxyl group, so they can form a hydrogel structure. Using the Michael type reaction, CS and PEGDA were cross-linked under mild condition to form the semi-IPN structure of the hydrogel. FT-IR showed that the binding between CS and CMC, and the binding between CS and PEGDA were successfully formed. Also, by measuring the swelling ratio, it was found that the sample could swell and retain a lot of water. |
