Preperation of Organogel/SWNT Nanocomposites Using a Thiophene-Containing Gelator |

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are widely investigated as composite materials due to their novel structural, electronic, and mechanical properties. Especially well-arrayed CNTs are highly desirable to achieve good performance in nanodevices. We prepared organogel/SWNT nanocomposites using a thiophene-based gelator with terminal vinyl groups. The gelator formed stable organogels in nonpolar organic solvents such as toluene and xylene. An organogel/SWNT nanocomposite was obtained by dispersing SWNTs in an organogel of a monomeric solvent such as hexyl methacrylate and subsequent photo polymerization in the gel state. |
