To prevent environmental issues and increase energy consumption efficiency by recycling biomass easily obtained from forestry and industrial procedures in a clean and efficient way, many technologies for finding high-valuable materials from biomass have been studied. In particular, based on the attractive benefits of abundance and eco-friendliness of biomass, research for high-performance and low-cost carbon materials from biomass is steadily progressing. This research paid attention to the possibility of the lignocellulosic structure as a carbon material. Hydrothermal carbonization and chemical activation were operated to manufacture the biomass precursor to porous carbon which possessed high specific surface area over 2800 m2 g-1. Due to their high specific surface area and hierarchical porous architecture, the synthesized porous carbon showed outstanding ion and electron transport properties, which can be benefits for high performance in capacitive based energy storage application. |
