Polyols and isocyanates, which are raw materials for polyurethane, are mainly composed of petroleum-based materials. However, as the regulation of petroleum resources has been recently strengthened, many research on the synthesis of various biopolyols has been reported. However, due to the complicated synthesis method of biopolyols, there are difficulties in industrial application. Eugenol, a relatively inexpensive allyl substituted guaiacol, is obtained from the lignin pyrolysis process. Herein, eugenol based biopolyol was one-pot synthesized and characterized by 1H-NMR and FT-IR. Polyurethane was prepared using biopolyol, 1,4-butanediol and polytetrahydrofuran-toluene diisocyanate prepolymer and confirmed via FT-IR. Thermal stability and mechanical strength were conducted by TGA and UTM, respectively. |
