제목 Photonic Bandgap Width Effect on Lasing Threshold in Cholesteric Liquid Crystalline Structure
초록 In this experiment we used three different types of NLC mediums with varying optical birefringent anisotropy. By changing the host NLC medium we were able to find out the relation between lasing threshold and PBG width and also found a new method to lower the lasing threshold in a DFB-type CLC cell. In conclusion, we have experimentally observed the relation between lasing threshold and the width of PBG in CLC cell, by using different optical birefringent anisotropy of the host NLC medium. The CLC cell with broader PBG width had a more pronounced and closely spaced multiple internal reflections near the PBG band edge, resulting in a higher DOS value. We have experimentally confirmed that lower lasing threshold can be obtained in CLC cell with a broader PBG width.
