Controllable post-synthesis of MOF-Derived Materials for gas adsorption and energy storage |

Over 320,000 MOFs have been reviewed to date. They can be easily synthesized with the various metal ions/clusters and organic linkers and have had outstanding physicochemistry characteristics. Although these advantages have led to wide and diverse research as a class of useful functional materials for gas adsorption and energy storage part, the thermodynamic instability, and weak mechanical character have had great restrictions on practical application systems. MOF-Derived Materials (MDMs) by carbonization process have overcome the above barriers and provided a new light in the construction of functional materials. MDM can utilize the controlled porous structure (large surface area and high level of porosity) of MOFs, and can also focus on the function and application of material utilization by selectively controlling the pore size and volume through the carbonization process. This study has shown that pore size and volume control are possible by MOFs, various strategies for controllable synthesis are comprehensively discussed as well as achievements in several application areas are also reported. |
