제목 | Reinforced polymer electrolyte membrane based on chemically modified porous supports for PEMFC |
초록 | Physical reinforcement through the use of porous supports are well-known methods of improving the mechanical durability of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell applications. In this study, mechanically stabilized composite membrane based on modified poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) and Perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) ionomer was fabricated and investigated for application in proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). In order to improve the compatibility between porous substrate and ionomer solution, the porous substrate was chemically modified through introducing hydrophilic moieties on the surface of the PTFE fibrils. The effect of variation in functional group of hydrophilic moiety as well as equivalent weight of PFSAs was investigated in terms of water absorption behaviour, mechanical strength, area resistance and PEMFC single cell performance. |
