Characteristic Analysis and Release Behavior of Olmesartan-loaded Polyoxalate Microspheres |

Polyoxalates(POX) is biodegradable and biocompatible polymer. Olmesartan is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure in adults and children above 6 years. The purpose of this study was to prepare and evaluate the characteristic of olmesartan-loaded microspheres from various preparation methods. Olmesartan-loaded POX microspheres were characterized for the drug load, out/inner surface morphology and in vitro drug release. Physicochemical characters and morphology of prepared microspheres were evaluated by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Result showed that the prepared microspheres were comprised of POX with valsartan encapsulated within the microspheres. Also, the degradation of microspheres by SEM and the drug release were obtained from in vitro test for 15 days. This work was supported by the Brain Korea 21 PLUS Project, NRF. |
